Myanmar asks for rare outside help after devastating earthquake | DW News

Myanmar’s military-led government says more than a thousand people have died after Friday’s powerful earthquake.
The 7.7 magnitude quake struck around midday – with its epicenter close to the city of Mandalay, followed by several aftershocks. Destructive tremors were also felt in neighboring Thailand.
International support is now starting to arrive in Myanmar after a rare appeal for outside help from the country’s military rulers.
