”He died while returning and entering to save other people. And he was pushed, run over, that’s how my son died. He was hardworking, (inaudible).. he was strong, but in that stampede of more than a thousand people, I have nothing to say. And he was a humane man, university educated, worked for a foreign company. It’s all taken away now. I understand you all, thank you for your condolences, but my pain is incurable. The wound is incurable.”

STORYLINE:
A grieving father said his son died trying to save others during a weekend inferno in a North Macedonia nightclub, as the nation grapples with the loss of dozens of young lives.
Fire tore through the overcrowded Club Pulse early Sunday in the eastern town of Kocani, leaving 59 people dead and 155 injured from burns, smoke inhalation and being trampled in the panicked escape toward the building’s single exit.
Tomco Stojanov said his 25-year-old son, Andrej, was "pushed and run over".
"That’s how my son died," he said.
"My pain is incurable. The wound is incurable.”
Although the investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing, videos showed sparkling pyrotechnics on the stage hitting Club Pulse’s ceiling and igniting the blaze as a band played.
People as young as 16 were among the casualties, and the nation declared seven days of mourning.
Authorities say they are investigating allegations of bribery surrounding the nightclub that was crammed with young revellers and at double capacity.
And North Macedonia’s government ordered a sweeping three-day inspection to be carried out at all nightclubs and cabarets across the country, starting Monday.
